Tollygunge Agragami holds Salgaocar SC

KOLKATA, APRIL 24. DTDC Tollygunge Agragami salvaged a crucial point holding former champion Salgaocar SC of Goa goalless in a 20th round of the VIII National Football League here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Having the prospect of relegation looming large over it, the drawn result helped Agragami gain a temporary reprieve moving into the 10th spot with a single point lead, netting 19 points from 20 matches, over Mohammedan Sporting, which in turn is now facing relegation to the second division alongside Indian Bank. On the other hand Salgaocar did not have relegation fears but continued to remain in the bottom half of the table with just 23 points from its quota of 20 matches.

With an utterly defensive host blocking up all the pathways, the visitor too slackened up unable to forge an attack. The action remained mostly relegated to the midfield and the 90 minutes of the regulation time turned out to be a lackadaisical performance with hardly any notable move coming from either of the two sides. — Our Sports Reporter
