Token appearance by Sehwag

NEW DELHI: Star Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag's one-hour media interaction turned out to be damp squib as the dashing opener made a five-minute cameo, posing only for photojournalists.

The invitation to the `only media interaction with Virender and Arti,' as the letter from his marketing agents said, left the reporters fuming.

The couple, after posing for the cameras, were escorted back into the hotel through a massive security cordon arranged by Delhi Police and the hotel security. The media also boycotted the `high-tea.'

The fact that came to light during the course of the five-minute cameo was that no public address system had been installed even as television mikes had crowded the table in front of the dais on which the couple were seated.

It was only after a rope, used as a security line, was removed that some journalists could get to the podium and hear the couple mumble some lines.

While Sehwag said he was happy to get married, Arti said, "He's a very simple man and down to earth and I like him."
