HYDERABAD: Sushma Singh and Samresh Jung clinched the individual women's sports pistol and men's 50m pistol gold respectively in the National shooting championships at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) range here on Saturday.

"I dedicate this win to my in-laws," said Sushma, who was married last year. "They've been very supportive and that has enabled me to train and practise regularly," she said.

A World Cup finalist at Bangkok with a score of 580, Sushma wasn't exactly pleased with her tally here. She however dislodged defending champion Shweta Chaudhury for the gold.

Although the facilities were fine, most performances were not up to potential, said Chaudhury, who settled for silver. The duelling final in particular was not too high scoring, she added.

"I owe my win to Vivek Singh's poor shooting," said Samresh Jung with a laugh, while quickly adding, "my shooting wasn't that good either".

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) inspector based in Delhi attributed his success to family support and that from his employers.

Jung took his time to fire and post a hat-trick, claiming the crown for the third year in succession.

"When there's time enough (75 seconds) to shoot, why hurry things," he asked. "I won't waste time, but I don't need to hurry either," he concluded.
