RSB, Chennai, continues to dominate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 17. RSB, Chennai, continued its domination in the all-India Civil Services power lifting championship, moving closer to winning the overall title with three more medals, at the Jimmy George indoor stadium here on Thursday.

V.R. Srikumar and G. Elangovan came first in 67.5kg and 82kg weight categories respectively while G.R. Gopu won a bronze in 75kg category.

Jitender Takre of Madhya Pradesh won gold in 75kg weight category to prevent a clean sweep by RSB Chennai.

Host Kerala enjoyed a better day as V.N. Raju and A.G. Raju won silver medals in 67.5kg and 75kg weight categories respectively.

The results: Upto 67.5 kg: 1. V.R.Srikumar (RSB, Chennai) 620kg (250 + 150 + 220), 2. V.N. Raju (Kerala) 550kg (210 + 130 + 210), 3. Rajkumar (CCSC&SB, Delhi) 520kg (205 + 130 + 185).

Upto 75kg: 1. Jitender Takre (MP) 615kg (265 + 122.5 + 227.5), 2. A.G. Raju (Kerala) 605kg (230 + 125 + 250), 3. G.R. Gopu (RSB, Chennai) 577.5kg (237.5 + 120 + 220).

Upto 82.5kg: 1. G. Elangvan (RSB, Chennai) 660kg (265 + 135 + 260), 2. Pyare Lal (CCSC & SB, Delhi) 590kg (210 + 140 + 240), 3. D.R. Gupta (CCSC & SB, Delhi) 560kg (220 + 140 + 220).
