Rajdhani Club survives a scare

NEW DELHI, JUNE 1. Rajdhani Club survived a lower order assault from SG before winning the Lala Raghubir Singh hot weather cricket tournament quarterfinal by 11 runs at the Modern School ground here on Tuesday.

Electing to field, SG failed to contain the strokeplay of Agnesh Surya, who cracked a brilliant 104 off 80 balls with 11 fours and six sixes. He was ably supported by Chetan Sharma who made 95 of 107 balls with 11 fours.

In reply, SG lost the top order quickly but revived its hopes through Rahat Elahi (65 off 80 balls with ten fours) and Siddharth Verma (48 off 39 balls with seven fours and a six). With Lalit Verma (35) and number nine batsman Vikas Sharma (61 off 32 balls with six fours and four sixes) carrying the fight to the rival camp. The finish came amidst excitement.

There will be no match on Wednesday. On Thursday, Indian Airlines will meet Malviya Club in the semifinal.
