HYDERABAD: Former Ranji player Noel David, who made his debut under Sachin Tendulkar's captaincy against the West Indies, announced his retirement from all grades of cricket on Monday.

The 34-year-old Noel David informed the media that he has decided to quit from all levels of the game and plans to concentrate on coaching. Currently he is with the St. John's Cricket Coaching Foundation in Secunderabad.

Looking back, David said he had no regrets. "God gave me the chance to play for the country too. I thank Shivlal Yadav (former national selector and now secretary of HCA), teammates V. Manohar and M.V. Sridhar, and John Manoj for their support," he said.

Best moment

Noel rates the double century (207 not out) against Andhra in a Ranji Trophy match at Gymkhana Grounds as his best moment. "We enjoyed batting on that wicket (Sridhar scored 366 and Vivek Jaisimha 211)," he said.
