Indians fare badly

NEW DELHI, FEB. 26. The Indian shooters came up with a below par fare in the women's air pistol and sport rifle 3-position events in the ongoing World Cup in Bangkok. Anjali Bhagwat shot a 571 in the 3-position event, 11 points below her best, in taking the 15th place.

Deepali Deshpande was off-colour as she finished joint 21st with Suma Shirur, with a 567. The gold went to Hong Shan of China who followed a 584 with a 98.3 in the final, for a 682.3.

Lioubov Galkina of Russia and Jamie Beyerle of the US who shot 681.9 and 678.5 respectively captured the silver and bronze.

In women's air pistol, Shweta Chaudhry shot a 374 for the 32nd slot. Annu Raj Singh was joint 35th with a 368 while Anisa Sayeed was last among 39 shooters with a 360.

Olga Kousnetsova of Russia who shot a 388 in the preliminary and a 99.2 in the final for a 487.2 bagged the gold. Eun Ra Gang of Korea and Susanne Myerhoff of Denmark won the silver and bronze respectively with 485.1 and 482.9.
