ICF stretches lead

CHENNAI, FEB. 26. Integral Coach Factory (ICF) increased its lead to two points at the end of the sixth and penultimate round of the 14th Tamil Nadu team chess championship organised by the Saranya Chess Centre at the Nehru Stadium. Southern Railway and Indian Bank, who were half a point behind ICF, now trail by two points.

ICF beat Mount Chess Academy by a big 3.5-0.5 margin. R. Balasubramanian, Syed Anwar Shazuli and T.J. Suresh Kumar won for ICF. State champion K. Gunasekaran was the only player to draw.

Top standings after 6th and penultimate round: 1. ICF 18; 2-3. S. Railway and Indian Bank 16 each; 4. Chennai Seniors 15; 5-6. Bloom Chess Academy and Salem 14.5 each; 8-9. Kanchi and Thuthookudi 13.5 each; 10. Mount Chess Academy 13; 11-12. Chennai Juniors and Jamalia Chess Academy `A' 12.5.
