Hassan fashions Munsif 's win



HYDERABAD: Left-out Ahmed Bin Hassan scored the first hat-trick of the event to fashion Munsif XI's impressive 4-1 win against Papaiah XI in the Sachdev Sports Cup football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

Hassan struck in the 12th and 28th minutes of first-half and later in the 45th minute to complete a fine hat-trick. Stopper-back Raghu reduced the margin with a direct free-kick in the 50th minute. Munsiff XI slammed in one more goal through Mohd Adil.

In another match, Falcon Club downed a fighting Morning Stars 5-4 via tie-breaker after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time. Suman, Uday, Naveen, Rupesh and Harish were the scorers for winner while Prasad, Rakesh, Jude and Mansoor were successful for the loser.

SCR outplays Income Tax

South Central Railway blanked Income Tax 5-0 in the Super Six hockey championship, organised by Hyderabad Hockey Association, at Begumpet Police Stadium here.

Full-back Mayur converted a penalty-corner in the eighth and 21st minutes. Chengappa scored the second while the third came from left-out Bharath, who latched on to a neat pass from Dung Dung to find the target. Soon thereafter Dung Dung himself got into the scoring act to make it 4-0. Centre-forward Prabhakar Singh completed the tally in the 40th minute.

In the B-Division league at Gymkhana Grounds, Independent Club defeated Cross Wings 3-1 although Cross Wings led 1-0 at the break.

Harender Parikh put Cross Wings ahead in the fifth minute. But in the second half J. Sainath scored a hat-trick to help Independent win the match.

Ramana in sole lead

K. Venkatramana emerged sole leader with 4.5 points at the end of fifth round in which he outwitted Moizuddin Khan in the DRDO inter-zonal chess tournament here.

SCR posts win

South Central Railway scored a 2-0 win against Rayalaseema Tigers in the A-Division Rahim league football championship at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

2k Run

Sri International School's Hyderabad 2K Run will be organised by Hyderabad District Athletic Association on June 18 at Necklace Road from 6.30 am, according to Suresh Kumar, director of the school.

The competition with a prize money of Rs. 16,000 is open for all school students (boys and girls in the age groups of 10 to 16 years) without any entry fee and it would be an annual feature.

The school will also sponsor the State open chess tournament from June 28 to 29 which would be a selection tournament for the State teams to take part in the coming Nationals. The school would also organise a National beach volleyball tournament from July 5 to 8 at Necklace Road.

Olympic Day Run

The Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will organise Olympic Day Run, sponsored by Lanco Institute of General Humanitarian Trust, on June 24 in the twin cities and will be flagged off from seven centres in the city.

APOA has also directed all the affiliated district units to organise runs in their respective headquarters on June 22.
