Fresh year, fresh start: Badani

After clinching a last-over thriller against Dindigul Dragons, Ruby Trichy Warriors will be high on confidence as it prepares to take on defending champion Chepauk Super Gillies at the MAC Stadium here on Saturday.

Super Gillies coach Hemang Badani isn’t reading too much into the reigning champion tag.

“It’s a fresh year and a fresh start. It’s a different team compared to what we had in the previous two years. We were aware Vijay Shankar wouldn’t be available for the early games. We knew the India-A tour would clash with the TNPL. There is also the possibility that he might not be available towards the end of the TNPL season too.”

Warriors’ batting coach Hemant Kumar hinted at a change in the batting line-up.

“I think over the next two games we should know what’s our best possible XI. But we might tinker with our batting order,” said Hemant.
