Double delight for Praveen

MYSORE, JULY 24. It was R.K. Praveen's day out at the MTC courts here on Saturday. After winning the boys' under-18 singles title, the first year PUC student from the Sadvidhya College, Mysore paired with Bruhath V. Raker to clinch the doubles final in the same age group, on the concluding day of the AITA Talent Series 2004.

Praveen beat fourth seed Varun Gunasheelan (TN) 6-2, 6-4 in the singles final. Later, Praveen and Bruhath V. Raker beat I.B. Abhishek and Yesh Bafna 6-3, 6-1 to make it a grand double.

The results: Boys: Under-18 singles final: R.K. Praveen (Kar) bt Varun Gunasheelan (TN) 6-2, 6-3.

Under-18 doubles final: R.K. Praveen/ Bruhath V. Raker (Kar) bt I. B. Abhishek/Yesh Bafna 6-1, 2-6, 6-2; semifinal: R.K. Praveen/ Bruhath V. Raker (Kar) bt Varun Gunasheelan/Kanagaraj (TN) 6-3, 6-1.

Under-14 final: A.N. Muddappa (Kar) bt Vibhav M. Iyengar (Kar) 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4); semifinal: Vibhav M. Iyengar (Kar) bt T. Dinesh Kanthan (SL) 6-1, 6-1.

Girls: Under-18 final: Sanjana Gopal (Kar) bt Swati Tyagi (Kar) 6-4, 6-4; Under-14 final: Sharmada B (Kar) bt Kaamya Ramanna (Kar) 6-4, 6-0.
