DGACR, AGTN in last four

CHENNAI, APRIL 24. Holder DGACR, Delhi toyed with AG Karnataka in carving out a 5-1 victory for a semifinal berth in the IA and AD inter-zonal football tournament at the Nehru stadium on Saturday.

In another quarterfinal match, host AG Tamil Nadu chalked out a convincing 3-0 win over last year's runner-up AG Haryana.

The Delhi team opened its account in the 11th minute through Rishi Kapoor, who knocked in a right flank cross by Neeraj Choudhary. Within minutes Sameer Jung took over. Scoring in the 15th minute, he added another a minute from half time.

Hitender Rawat raised the tally on resumption before Karnataka earned the consolation goal off a 20-yard free kick by Saravanan. Jung then completed the tally midway in the session pouncing on a rebound from goalkeeper.

The Tamil Nadu team took time to settle before the in-form Selvakumar provided the pass for Muthu to latch on and score.

Ten minutes after resumption, Selvakumar delighted the home bench with a solo effort that consolidated Tami Nadu's position. The touch of Justus Antony ensured the home team's victory when he helped Balashankar to score.

In the semifinal on Sunday, DGACR meets AG Manipur, while AG Tamil Nadu takes on AG West Bengal.
