Devang Gandhi hits 138

KOLKATA NOV. 9. Test discard Devang Gandhi smashed 138 (19 x 4), his 10th Ranji and 14th first class hundred, and put on 230 runs for the second wicket with opener Amitava Chakraborty (90) to lift Bengal to 277 for three at close against Rajasthan on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy elite group A game at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday.

Rajasthan won the toss and put Bengal in to bat on a pitch which had a tinge of green. The Rajasthan pacers moved the ball well and made it hurry as well.

Only opening batsman and former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta (8) went out cheaply. At close skipper Rohan Gavaskar (batting 19) and Subhamoy Das (batting 9) were at the crease.
