Convincing win for India

BUSAN Oct. 5. India had another field day, notching up its third win in as many matches, in the Kabaddi competition of the 14th Asian Games at the Tongmyong Information Technology University stadium on Saturday.

Pitted against Bangladesh, the Indians hardly gave anything away and showed their domination right from the start. The champion side, which went on to win 37-14, had six lonas and ran out 31 opponents.

There were four lonas in favour of the Indians in the first-half as they led 24-7 at the interval. India gained two more lonas before closing out the match in style. Bangladesh, however, tasted success later in the day as it defeated Malaysia 46-8.

Pakistan had two wins today, beating Japan 21-12 and Sri Lanka 20-6, in the round-robin league. After a slow start, Pakistan, which led 3-0 at the interval, picked up momentum in the final session to score two lonas and cruise to a convincing win.

The results: India bt Bangladesh 37-14; Pakistan bt Japan 21-12; Bangladesh bt Malaysia 46-7; Pakistan bt Sri Lanka 20-6.
