Bagan draws with East Bengal

KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan held Kingfisher East Bengal goalless in a fourth round encounter of the National Football League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Sunday evening. The draw helped East Bengal tally five points from three matches while Mohun Bagan had two points from three matches.

The contest was on even footing, considering the share of ball possession. Neither of the sides appeared all that keen to win and was cautious. The action was mostly relegated to the midfield as the two sides took time to organise their attacks, which were few and far between.

East Bengal started on a brisk note and won five corners in the first seven minutes. But the Bagan goal survived a barrage of attack as East Bengal could not find the right man to convert any of the set-piece situations.

The second session had Mohun Bagan's Brazilian defender Eduardo Coelho missing twice from close. East Bengal too had its share of misses.

Mohammedan Sporting collected full points beating a 10-man Salgaocar SC in a third round encounter on Saturday evening. Substitute Nitin Pradhan scored the only goal of the match. - Sports Reporter
