Avtar, Ahmed Quadri score centuries

HYDERABAD: : Centuries by Avtar Singh (118 not out, 14 x 4) and Ahmed Quadri (112 not out, 14 x 4, 2 x 6) helped Nizam College to record a 229-run win against BBCIT in the M.N. Abbasi Trophy inter-college cricket tournament here on Thursday.

Bhavan's Vivekananda College, Sainikpuri, defeated Bhavan's College, Narayanaguda 19-9 in the final of the Osmania University inter-college kho kho tournament here on Thursday. Nizam college took the third place.

Nityanand's hat-tirck

Left-out Nityanand's hat-trick helped Sports Authority of India (STC) Secunderabad to record a comfortable, 3-0 win against APSRTC in the quarterfinal of the Sports Coaching Foundation Trophy hockey tournament for seniors at Begumpet Police Stadium on Thursday. Nityanand struck in the 19th and 32nd minutes of first-half and then in the 45th minute of second session to complete the tally.

In the first semifinal on Friday, State Bank of India will take on South Central Railway.

Mithali Raj

Good bowling by India captain Mithali Raj (five for 15) helped Rayalaseema record a 12-run win against Sports Coaching Foundation in the Sarojini Naidu State-level floodlit women's cricket tournament at SCF Grounds on Thursday.

Rayalaseema 89 for four in 15 overs bt SCF 77 for seven (Mithali Raj five for 15).

Andhra 88 for two in 15 overs (Archana Das 31 not out) bt Hyderabad 82 for five (Kirtana 32).

Prudhvi puts Visakhapatnam in final

At Visakhapatnam, N. Prudhvi Raj claimed five wickets to help Visakhapatnam gain first innings points over Central Zone-II and move into the final of ACA under-15 inter-zone tournament here on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam meets South Zone-II in the final to be played on Oct. 1 and 2.

In another round-robin match, Guntur took the lead against North Zone-II, thanks to a six-wicket haul by Janakiram.
