VIRUDHUNAGAR: Annamalai University and Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti entered the final of the Dr. H. Lysander memorial trophy state-level inter-collegiate basketball tournament defeating VOC College, Tuticorin 66-24 and St. Xavier's College, Tirunelveli 54-28 respectively here on Thursday.

The results: Semifinals: Annamalai University 66 (Dinesh 13, Pechi 14) bt V.O.C. Tuticorin 24 (Rajesh 12); SIT, Kariapatti 54 (James 10, Arumugarajan 10) bt St.Xaviers College 28 (Sarath 11).

Central Excise, Chennai entered the semifinals of the Mahalinga Nadar - Packiammal Trophy State-level football tournament defeating St. Joseph's College, Tiruchi 5-4 via sudden death at Nadar Sports Club ground, Ambasamudaram, on Thursday.

Central Excise 5 (Jeyakumar 2, Milkey Raj, Murugan, Babu) bt St. Joseph's (Karunakaran 2, Surendrakumar, Ajayan).
