Ajay and Akshita triumph

CHENNAI, AUG. 21. M. Saketh Sai of Andhra Pradesh frittered away one set and a 4-0 lead in the second to lose to a determined Ajay Selvaraj of Tamil Nadu 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the boys' under-18 final of the ABI-Showa Tech AITA (super series) junior tennis tournament at the Krishnan Tennis Centre, Kottivakkam, here, on Saturday.

Fifteen-year-old Akshita B Raj, a XIth standard student of Sri Bhagwan Mahavir Jain College and a trainee at The Tennis Village in Bangalore, posted a convincing 6-4, 6-1 win over local lass Grace Hannah 6-4, 6-1 in the girls' under-18 final.

Eighteen-year-old Ajay, a II B.Com student of Loyola College (Chennai) who trains with Rajiv Naidu at Matchpoint Tennis Centre showed enough patience to wear down Saketh who committed lot of unforced errors after having promised much.

The boys' and girls' winners and runners-up received 50 and 40 AITA points respectively. R. Srikanth, Ed, Brakes India, gave away prizes.
