CHENNAI: A single judge order dismissing a petition against the grant of permission to file a civil suit on the affairs of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) in the Madras High Court was suspended by a Division Bench on Saturday.

The Bench comprising Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice S.K. Krishnan suspended order till April 20, after admitting an appeal from V.R. Bobba, honorary treasurer of the AICF.

A joint petition from the chess associations of Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Maharashtra seeking to file civil suit against the office-bearers of the AICF in the Madras High Court was allowed by a single judge on March 2.

The present appeal was directed against that order of the single judge.
