Canara Bank and Fortis play out a 5-5 draw

Fortis (Bengaluru) and Canara Bank were locked in an exciting 5-5 draw in the inaugural match of the Bengaluru Super Division Hockey League here on Thursday.

D.S. Darshan and the speedy Nikkin Thimmaiah gave Canara Bank the lead within the first 15 minutes. A short while later, Anju Malik opened the account for Fortis with a precise penalty corner.

A total of seven goals were scored in the second-half. A goal from Pruthvi Raj gave Canara a 3-1 advantage, before Fortis came scored four in succession. Canara Bank managed to score two goals in the final moments of the game.

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was the guest of honour.

Canara Bank (Bengaluru) 5 (D.S. Darshan 7, Nikkin Thimmaiah 12 & 66, Pruthvi Raj 50, K.P. Somanna 70) drew with Fortis (Bengaluru) 5 (Anju Malik 17 & 53, Harnek Singh 58, Pushpinder Singh 66, K.P. Somanna 64).
