Veerans prevails over Sultans

Chandigarh: Chennai Veerans exposed the chinks in Hyderabad Sultans's defence defeating it by a solitary goal in their second-leg encounter of the Premier Hockey League here on Saturday.

With the victory, Veerans has a tally of 10 points, while Sultans is placed at the bottom with five points.

The Sultans, which appeared to be in an attacking mode at the start, played a defensive game once Veerans fired the first goal in the 10th minute of the second quarter.

It was a good move started by Kamal Lakra, Adam Sinclair and V. Raju before the ball was passed on to Pramod Kumar who hit it cleanly past the goalkeeper.

On Friday, defending champion Bangalore Lions made a valiant comeback with a resilient 4-3 victory over table topper Orissa Steelers. PTI
