Stalin Hoover’s century goes in vain

Bangalore: Stalin Hoover’s 106 went in vain as Herons CC suffered a one-wicket defeat against Deccan United CC in a Y.S. Ramaswamy Memorial trophy tournament match here on Saturday.

Herons CC 283 for seven in 50 overs (Stalin Hoover 106, S. Vinodh 55, Harsha Tiptur 43) lost to Deccan United CC 284 for nine in 46.3 overs (Sudhir Rao 78).

Sparton SC 48 in 18.2 overs (Naresh Reddy five for four) lost to Jolly Cricketers 49 for three in 9.5 overs.

Jawahar SC 279 in 49.2 overs (V.S. Pawar 71, Girish Rao 42, Sachin four for 43) bt Duleep Cricketers 166 in 37.4 overs (Shreyas Debur 48, K.P. Rohan four for 39).

Easy for MEG

MEG and SAI posted their second wins in the four-team round robin league of the State A Division hockey league, to set up a title clash on Tuesday. At the KSHA stadium here on Saturday, SAI humbled CMP 5-0 while MEG proved too good for MLI winning 3-1.

Bixel Bhengra (13th), Ravindra Tigga (26th) and Sagai Jayseelan (34th) scored for the Sappers while Praful Karketta (15) reduced the margin for MLI.

In the other match, SAI playing with a fluency and flair struck through Poonacha (16th), Pradhan (18th), Nikhin Thimmaiah (45th and 52nd) and Ratan Muthanna (49th) to rout CMP.

There will be no matches at this venue on Sunday and Monday. The final two matches will be played on Tuesday.

Huned takes honours

Huned Taiyeb Khokhar claimed top honours in the first State-ranking tenpin bowling tournament conducted by the Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Association at the Starcity Bowling Centre here on Saturday.

In the final analysis of step ladder format Huned had a score of 209 from 12 games, while Anthony Rajkumar managed 169 in 11 games.

Anthony had topped after 10 games and thus met Huned who bested Harish to make the grade.

Sports meet

J.P. Nagar Sports Club will conduct a State-level women’s sports meet from Sunday. The week long sports extravaganza will include events for women in cricket, volleyball and ball-badminton.

The meet concludes on February 1.
