Sri Gopal Naidu HSS is champion

Coimbatore: Host Sri Gopal Naidu HSS blanked Lisieux MHSS 4-0 and emerged the champion of the sixth district level football tournament for junior boys for the Rao Bahadur Memorial Rolling Trophy here on Saturday.

Earlier, Stanes HSS, thanks to Joy’s double strike, notched up a 2-0 win over Carmel Garden MHSS and finished third.

The results:

Final: Sri Gopal Naidu HSS 4 (D. Ramachandran 2, Vargheese, Vijayakumar) bt Lisieux 0. Third place: Stanes HSS 2 (Joy 2) bt Carmel Garden MHSS 0.

PSG Polytechnic wins

PSG Polytechnic College, with 115 points, clinched the overall championship in games in the SNGPC-IPAA meet recently.

Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya polytechnic collected 72 points for the overall championship in athletics.

At Salem, a fine knock of 75 by R. Vijay Kumar enabled Government Arts College score a 66-run win over DPC Polytechnic in the SDCA inter-collegiate cricket tournament on Saturday.

Govt. Arts 179 for five in 25 overs (R. Vijay Kumar 75, A. Kalai Selvan 44) bt DPC Polytechnic 113 (S. Mahenthrin four for 16, G. Udaya Kumar two for 25).

AVS Arts & Science 131 for nine in 28 overs lost to Sona CT 132 for six in 24.3 overs (T. Arul Murugan 52 not out).

Balamurugan Arts & Science 225 for seven in 30 overs (G. Arul Kumar 57 not out, N. Pradeep three for 46) bt CSI Polytechnic 189 for nine in 30 overs (Praveen Kumar 38, R. Kumar four for 26).
