South Central Railway scores thumping win

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway blanked State Bank of India 5-0 in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at the Gymkhana Grounds here.

Railwaymen took the lead in the 35th minute through Santosh Rao and within two minutes, Mozam latched on to a neat pass from Nidhi to score the second goal.

In the second session, Mozam struck again in the 41st minute off a solo effort and within four minutes Azeem was on target. Midfielder Sailesh’s long-ranger completed the tally for the winner.

Tanmay, Harish shine

Unbeaten centuries by openers Tanmay Agarwal (121 n.o., 13x4) and Harish (110 n.o., 12x4) helped Daniel Cricket Academy record a 62-run win over All Saint’s High School in the under-13 category of the Santa Cup sub-juniors cricket tournament organised by Vijaya Paul Cricket Academy here on Tuesday.

The scores: U-13: St. Peter’s HS 137 for five (Varun Yadav 43) bt Good Samaritans CA 67 (V.L. Sashank three for 15); Daniel CA 267 for no loss (Tanmay Agarwal 121 n.o., Harish 110 n.o.) bt All Saint’s HS 205 for four (Danish 78); Rakesh Tandon CA 108 (Ishan Shan 31) lost to Auxillium HS 110 for three in 21.1 overs (K. E. Krupakar 77 n.o.).

U-15: Bhega’s HS 148 for five (Sainath 44, Gaurav 41) lost to St. Peter’s CA 152 for two (Ranjeeth Kumar 62 n.o.).

Tarbund XI and Independent Hockey Club were locked in a three-all draw in the B-Division hockey league championship at the Gymkhana Grounds here.

For Tarbund XI, Ashwin Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Rakesh were the scorers while for Independent, B. Ravi netted a brace and Sandeep struck once.

Earlier, Doraiswamy, SAAP deputy director, inaugurated the championship.

Hemanth wins title

Hemanth Kumar of Central Excise won the men’s singles title in the 40 to 49 years category of the ninth AP State veterans’ table tennis championship at the Gujarati Seva Mandal here.

Diana to lead

Diana David will lead Hyderabad in the South Zone inter-State senior women’s cricket tournament to be played at Anantapur from January 1 to 14, according to D. S. Chalapathi, joint secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association. All the players are to report for the coaching camp at Gymkhana Grounds from Wednesday.
