NANDYAL: N. Sikki Reddy and P. Lavanya advanced to the girls’ doubles final of the Andhra Pradesh State junior under-16 badminton championship at the Nandi Pipes Badminton Academy indoor stadium here with a facile 21-11, 21-8 win over A.L. Priyanka and A. Santoshi on Saturday.
Facing the Hyderabad duo will be the Vizag pair of Ch. Mounika and Ch. Moulika, who defeated Leela Lakshmi and Karuna 21-15, 20-22, 23-21.
Earlier, Manisha ousted third-seeded Ch. Mounika 21-18, 22-24, 22-20 in the girls’ singles quarterfinals. The winner showed more grit in the crucial stages, especially in the decider, where the opponents were locked 15-all and after, until Manisha separated herself by the required two points to romp home.
Boys’ seeds cruise
The top four seeds in the boys’ section cruised to the semifinals slated for Sunday morning. Third-seeded Vikas Harsha trailed initially, but used his height to the hilt to notch up the last five points on the trot to seal the first game 21-17.
In the second set, the Nellore lad had his rival on the run most of the time, taking the game with a measure of comfort.

Singh, Rao triumph
J. Singh of Submarines and R.K. Rao of Fleet B won the 12-km and 4-km events respectively, in the Eastern Naval Command cross-country championship held in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
The team championship was won by Fleet B while INS Rajali from Arakkonam was runner-up. Commanding Officer of INS Circars G.V. Babu inaugurated the championship and Flag Officer Commanding of Eastern Fleet R.K. Dhowan gave away the prizes.
ECRSA posts win
East Coast Railway Sports Association defeated County C.C. by seven wickets in the VDCA first division clubs league in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
