Ryder included in Kiwi squad

Wellington: Opening batsman Jesse Ryder will return to international cricket for the first time in seven months after being selected in the New Zealand squad for the Twenty20 World Cup.

Ryder was injured while playing for New Zealand at the Champions Trophy limited-overs tournament in September and missed most of New Zealand's domestic season after having surgery to strengthen his abdominal wall.

Prior dropped

Meanwhile, England dropped Matt Prior and selected Craig Kieswetter as its wicketkeeper in the 15-man squad.

The selectors also picked newcomer Michael Lumb among the batsmen, recalled Ravi Bopara for his batting and bowling and added Michael Yardy as an extra spinner in the tournament that starts April 30 in West Indies.

Graeme Smith has been declared fit to lead South Africa but left-arm fast bowler Wayne Parnell has not been included.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka has named uncapped wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal in its squad.

Kumar Sangakkara leads the side featuring seven specialist batsmen, three seamers, three spinners and two allrounders. Chandimal will provide backup for regular wicketkeeper Sangakkara.
