Reserve judgement on Dhoni: Kapil

Mumbai: Former India skipper Kapil Dev has said that it was wrong to pass judgement on India skipper M.S. Dhoni’s captaincy until he proves his skills in difficult conditions.

“We cannot judge his (Dhoni) captaincy on the basis of recent matches against Australia and England. It is too early to judge him,” Dev said on the sidelines of a press conference here.

“Dhoni needs to show his talent and skill during tough times, which is more important,” he added.

The 1983 World Cup winning captain said the Indian team was performing well and the players were looking in good shape.

“The boys are getting better and better with every game. Yuvraj (Singh) is playing well and he should be given a chance to prove his skills,” he said.

Kapil also said the starts being given by Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir had played a crucial role in the team’s fortunes during the series against Australia. — PTI
