Nandi to face Saha

GUWAHATI: Anirban Nandi of West Bengal pulled off a 14-12, 11-6, 6-11, 11-4, 11-2 win over Anal Kashyap of Assam to reach the men's singles table tennis final of the 33rd National Games at the Tarunram Phookan Indoor Stadium here on Saturday.

After reaching the final of the East Zone in Kolkata in 2000, this is Nandi's best-ever performance. Kashyap had earlier beat the second seed Jitendar of Andhra Pradesh. Nandi will play the top-seed and sparring partner Subhajit Saha of West Bengal in the final. Playing in his fourth National Games, Subhajit defeated Pathik Mehta of Gujarat 12-10, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 14-12 to reach his first final in the Games. The 24-year-old Nandi had earlier overcome Soumyadeep Roy in the quarterfinals.

In the women's category, the top-seed K. Shamini of Tamil Nadu will meet Vishika Vijoy (Rajasthan) in the final.
