Murugan CC survives early collapse

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Host Murugan CC survived an early collapse to score a four-wicket in over Loyola Cricket Academy in the Celestial Trophy all-Kerala cricket tournament here on Monday.

Chasing a target of 160, Murugan CC was reduced to three for three in the third over before a 106-run fourth wicket stand between Venkitesh (72) and Shanu (37) set the things right for the host. Murugan CC with this qualified for the fourth round.

In other third round matches, Youngsters CC (Kollam) scored a four-wicket win over St. Mary’s CC; Zeros defeated Civil Services by 15 runs and Little Masters crushed Oxford CC (Kollam) by 63 runs.

The scores: Loyola Cricket Academy 159 for eight in 30 overs (Athul Diamond 40, Ligin Francis 37) lost to Murugan CC ‘A’ 162 for six in 28.4 overs (Venkitesh 72, Shanu 37, Ansar four for 27)

St. Mary’s CC 189 in 28.2 overs (Nixon 82, Satish three for 25) lost to Youngsters CC 192 for six in 29.1 overs (Abhilash 61, Satish 42, Ajith three for 30)

Zeros CC 184 in 30 overs (Sachin 42, Shyju 35, Jayesh 34, Shibin Mycle three for 35, Renjith three for 30) bt Civil Services 169 for nine in 30 overs (Radhakrishnan 39)

Little Masters 170 for eight in 30 overs (Deepak 90 n.o., Akash Babu four for 22) bt Oxford CC, Kollam 107 in 22 overs (Vivek 33, Siyad three for 27, Manu three for 15).
