Motor : Good show by Preetam

CHENNAI: Preetam Dev Moses of India won Race2 of the second round in the Malaysian Super Series (600cc expert category) at the Sepang Circuit on Sunday. The Chennai racer had done well in the qualifying session to take the second place on the grid, which had racers from Italy, Norway, Great Britain, Singapore and Malaysia in the fray.

According to information received here, Preetam was off to a flying start from the first lap in Race1. He built a comfortable lead by the fifth lap. But the bottom fairing of his vehicle broke and fell off, which put him behind and he had to settle for the third place.

Race2 saw a gruelling fight between pole leader Massimo Nanni (Italy) and Preetam. The Indian took the lead in the first phase of the 14th lap only to lose it in the same lap. Preetam, however, made it up in the final lap at C1 to grab the lead back and take the chequered flag.

Preetam's fourth successive podium finish in the current season has placed him overall second in the championship standings with 41 points, four short of the leader.
