Jhulan to lead India in World Cup

Chennai: Jhulan Goswami will lead India in the ICC women’s World Cup, scheduled in Australia in March, with Amit Sharma named as her deputy.

The all-India selection panel for women’s cricket met here on Sunday to pick a 15-member squad for the elite tournament.

The quartet of Diana David, Latika Kumari, Swaroopa Kadam and Pallavi Bharadwaj have been named standby for the tournament, BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan said in a statement.

The team: Jhulan Goswami (captain), Amita Sharma (vice-captain), Mithali Raj, Rumeli Dhar, Priyanka Roy, M.D. Thirushkamini, Poonam Raut, Harman Preeth Kaur, Anjum Chopra, Sulakshana Naik, Anaga Deshpande, Reema Malhotra, Snehal Pradhan, Gohar Sultana and Shranvanthi Naidu.
