Jayakumar's spell in vain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fine spell by S.Jayakumar (five for 39) went in vain as Anugraha CC beat Trivandrum CC by 30 runs in the Thiruvananthapuram District ‘D' division cricket league here on Wednesday.

The scores: Anugraha CC 198 in 26.5 overs (Nadheer 47, Faizal 35, Mohammed 33, S. Jayakumar five for 39) bt Trivandrum CC 168 for nine in 28 overs (Rameez Navaz 88, Chandu 33, Renjith three for 32, Reju three for 38) .

Easy for Marshals

Marshals CC crushed TISCOT CC by 10 wickets in the Thiruvananthapuram District ‘E' division cricket league here on Wednesday.

Batting first, TISCOT CC was bundled out for 118 runs and Marshals cantered home in just 12 overs. Ashok Kumar (70 not out) and Jinumon (45 no) shared an unbroken stand of 119 runs for the first wicket.

The scores: TISCOT CC 118 in 28.5 overs (Rahul three for 31) lost to Marshals CC 119 for no loss in 12 overs (Ashok Kumar 70 n.o., Jinumon 45 n.o.) .

Seminar on cricket

The Kollam District Cricket Association conducted a one-day seminar on KCA's project cricket@school in Kollam on Wednesday.

More than 100 physical education teachers from different schools in the district took part in the seminar. The participants were given a brief account of the rules and coaching by the KCA representatives.

The Deputy Director of Education in Kollam district, V. Rajendran, inaugurated the seminar.

Baseball clinic

Gregory Berglund, a former American baseball player and a National Level-2 coach in France, will conduct a baseball clinic for umpires, coaches and senior players at the Fort Kochi YMCA in Kochi on Thursday.

Baby K. Roy, the Secretary of the Fort Kochi YMCA, will inaugurate the clinic at 10 a.m. A referees test will also be conducted after the clinic.

Meanwhile the eighth Kerala State senior baseball championship, for men and women, will be held at the Parade Ground, Fort Kochi, on February 26.

Badminton tournament

The Identiti Advertising-RSC inter-pool men's doubles badminton tournament, organised by the Regional Sports Centre, will be held at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavanthra, on February 25.

The tournament, for players above 35 years, is open to RSC members who have not represented Kerala State in the junior or senior level. Entries close at 6 p.m. on February 26.
