Jaisimha Academy wins title

HYDERABAD: ML Jaisimha 365 Cricket Academy clinched the Boston Cup (under-12) floodlit cricket tournament with a 31-run win over Sports Coaching Foundation (Blues) at the SCF Grounds here.

Batting first, Jaisimha Academy scored 87 for five with Vikram being the top-scorer with 41, while Nadeem (three for 20) bowled well for Blues.

In reply, SCF Blues was bowled out for 56 with Vikram claiming three for 12. He was also declared Player of the Final.

AC Guards XI posts win

AC Guards XI scored a 3-1 win over Young Turks in the ‘A’-2 division hockey league championship at the Begumpet Police Stadium here.

For the winner, M.A. Khaleel, Ali bin Khalifa and Abdul Raheem struck once each, while Sailesh reduced the margin.

In the ‘B’ division league, Rainbow Club defeated Independent Club 8-1 with Abhinav Reddy (4), Manipal (3) and Srikanth (1) being the scorers, Sainath scored the lone goal for the loser.

Chess tournament

The Brilliant Chess Academy will organise the State women’s chess championship on May 10 and 11 at the Brilliant Grammar School and the top four players would represent the State in the National ‘B’ championship at Kozhikode from June 6 to 14.

Meanwhile, the 25th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament will be organised simultaneously on the same dates with total prize money of Rs. 10,000. For details, call 9247399717 or 9866519924.

Ball badminton trials

The Hyderabad State Ball Badminton Association will organise selection trials for men at the HAL Grounds (Balanagar) on May 11 at 8 a.m. The teams to take part in the all-India senior invitation tournament at the BHEL Community Centre from May 16 to 18 will be named during the trials. City Police triumphs

At Visakhapatnam, City Police won the Bhupathi Raju Memorial football tournament, beating Fort Union FC in sudden death in the final on Thursday.

Both teams played fine football and enjoyed equal chances but could not convert them into goals. When the tie-breaker was imposed, City Police goalkeeper Sravan stopped two penalties that were certain goals.

Ravi was the only City Police player to convert his penalty while others shot out, while for FU FC, Murali converted his shot to push the game into sudden-death.

Balu Mahendra found the target as the FU FC player missed his chance and City Police emerged winner.

Elahi posts win

At Devarapalle, top seed Sk. Elahi of Prasakam District defeated K. Sai Dinesh Kumar of Vizag 25-10, 25-15 in the three-day 37th State junior inter-district carrom championship on Thursday.
