Indian women to take on Iran

CHENNAI: The Indian women’s football team is all set for its home match against Iran in New Delhi on October 20 in the qualifying round for the Asia Cup 2008.

Later, the side leaves for Teheran for the away match on October 27.

The Indian team, under chief coach Prem Kanta Singh, had a rigorous 34-day camp at the Neyveli Lignite Corporation.

The team: Ronibala Chanu, Prashanth Pradhan (goalkeepers); Gulti Choudhry, Ansha, Madhukumari, Alochana Senapathi, Jayanthi Barua, A. Romidevi, Thoi, Gitanjali Kuntia (defenders); Pinki Magar Bhompal, O. Bembem, Geetarani Chanu, Amoolya Jayaram, Gayathri Mallick, Lalvermoi Hmar, Sasmita Malik, Rinku Ghosh (mid fielders), N.C. Bala Devi, Shilpi Deb, Domiaka, S. Vasanthi, Jagdeep Kaur (strikers).
