Hyderabad Globe enters final

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Globe moved into the final of the SAAP Budweiser premier league football championship with a 6-4 win in a tie-breaker over AOC Centre at the Gymkhana grounds, here on Wednesday.

At the end of regulation time the teams were locked 2-2.

AOC took the lead in the 31st minute through a solo effort by D. K. Mahanto.

However, Globe fought back and equalised within a minute when Sk. Mazhar was on target with a long-ranger.

Then AOC took the lead again in the 42nd minute when Mahanto scored with a powerful drive from the top of the box off a pass from Premjit Singh. At half-time, AOC led 2-1.

On resumption, Globe put pressure on the rival citadel and scored the equaliser again in the 85th minute when substitute Nikesh struck.

With teams locked 2-2 at full-time, tie-breaker rule was applied in which Globe emerged the winner.

The goal-scorers for the winner in the tie-breaker were Nikesh, Habib Khan, Mohamad Mahamood and Salah Dafla Ahmed. For AOC, only Premjit Singh and Latheesh were successful.

Easy for CRPF ‘A’

Central Reserve Police Force ‘A’ recorded a 4-0 win over St. Peter’s High School in the fifth Vemparala Purushotham Memorial inter-School hockey tournament at the Gymkhana grounds here.

J. Karthijkeyan and W. Sujit netted two goals apiece for the winner. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Olympian Edwards Alloysius.

Easy for Hustlers XI

Grand Hustlers XI recorded a 51-run win over Power Cricket Cub in the first round of V. Hanumanth Rao prize money cricket tournament, organised by the Amberpet Playground Sports Association (APSA).

Earlier, P. Gyaneshwar Goud, President, APSA, inaugurated the tournament.

The scores: Grand Hustlers 157 for seven in 20 overs (Sidhu 51) bt Power Cricket Club 106 in 14 overs.

Hyderabad Colts teams

The Hyderabad Colts team for the 10th Mayor Challenge Cup at Katni (Madhya Pradesh) from February 6 has been announced and the list is displayed on the notice board at the Gymkhana grounds.

Similarly, the under-19 team to take part in the SAIL Trophy in Bhillai is also displayed at the above venue.

The selected players should report to coaching camp at the Gymkhana grounds from Thursday.
