Dhaka: Rahul Dravid has suffered a fracture in his face after being struck by a bouncer from Shahadat Hossain during the course of the second Test here on Monday. Indian team manager Arshad Ayub confirmed this in a hurriedly-convened press conference.

Reading from a prepared statement, Ayub said: “Rahul Dravid was struck by a ball on the side of his face today. He was taken to the hospital and a fracture was detected. As of now there are no signs of any head injury.

Condition is stable

“His condition is stable and he will be kept under observation. He is unlikely to participate for the rest of the match.”

Ayub mentioned that a final call on whether Dravid would stay back and recover or he would head home to Bangalore, would be taken on Tuesday.

The manager also said that Yuvraj Singh had suffered an injury. “Yuvraj has a sprain in his left wrist and was taken to the hospital for further investigation. A decision on whether he will be able to bat will be taken tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ayub said.
