Double delight for Nikshep

BANGALORE: Local lad B.R. Nikshep completed a fine double, winning both the boys’ under-12 and under-14 singles titles in the KEF Holding State ranking junior tennis championship at KIMS courts here on Saturday.

Nikshep defeated Ankit Arvind 6-2, 7-5 in the under-14 singles final and earlier, he won the under-12 title with a 6-1, 6-0 win over B.S. Anirudh.

The main draw of the KEF Holding AITA Talent Series (for under-16 & under-18) gets underway on Monday.

The results (State ranking finals):

Boys: Under-14 singles: B.R. Nikshep bt Ankith Arvind 6-2, 7-5. Under-12 singles: B.R. Nikshep bt B.S. Anirudh 6-1, 6-0. Children: Under-10 singles: C.Vashist bt Adil Kalyanpur 6-2, 6-3.

Girls: Under-14 singles: Nupur Umashankar bt Tanya Singh 6-2, 6-2.

Jigisha in final

Jigisha rallied to beat Deethya 19-21, 21-18, 21-15 and set up a title clash with Nikita Ramesh in the girls’ under-10 singles event of the Century Club State-ranking badminton tournament, which got underway here on Saturday.

Girls’ under-10 singles semifinals: Jigisha bt Deethya 19-21, 21-18, 21-15; Nikita Ramesh bt Aditi Krishna 21-13, 21-10.

Under-13 singles pre-quarterfinals: Naganetra bt Apeksha Nayak 19-21, 22-20, 21-16; Anisha Krishna bt Asrita 21-10, 17-21, 21-8; Ashwini Bhat bt Tanvee 28-26, 21-11; Monisha Gowda bt U.K. Mithula 21-3, 21-7.
