Divij-Vishnu pair loses

NEW DELHI: Divij Sharan and Vishnu Vardhan went down 1-6, 2-6 in the doubles final of the $35,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Kyoto, Japan, to the second-seeded Austrian pair of Martin Fischer and Philipp Oswald. The Indian pair beat Jumr Mitsuhashi and Takao Suzuki 7-6(7), 7-6(5) in the semifinals.

Third-seeded Purav Raja and Sadik Kadir of Australia lost in the quarterfinals to Mitsuhashi and Suzuki 5-7, 6-7(3).

In singles, Vishnu Vardhan lost 7-6(4), 2-6, 4-6 to Sadik Kadir in the first round.
