Charu Sharma rubbishes rumours

Bangalore: Charu Sharma, the former CEO of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has dismissed the reports in a section of the Pakistan media, which attributed his sacking to the non-inclusion of Misbah ul Haq in the playing eleven in the earlier matches, as baseless.

It may be recalled that Misbah was included in the eleven from the sixth game onwards after New Zealander Ross Taylor left.

And as the team slumped with five defeats, Sharma was unceremoniously sacked and it triggering off controversy. “It’s the most absurd thing I have ever heard. If I were to influence selections with people like Martin Crowe, the Chief Cricket Officer, Rahul Dravid and Venkatesh Prasad, then I must be one powerful guy. I think to suggest that I had a say in selection of the team is just ridiculous,” Sharma said.
