Adithanar College lifts title

Tirunelveli: Adithanar College, Tiruchendur, lifted the Ezhilarasi memorial Trophy defeating Sathakathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai, 25-21, 25-16, 25-15 in the final of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate men’s volleyball tournament at Palayamkottai on Saturday.

St. Francis in semifinals

St. Francis Xavier HSS, Tuticorin, entered the semifinals of the State-level inter-school basketball tournament defeating the defending champion American College HSS, Madurai, 56-38 at Virudhunagar on Saturday.

Two centuries in a day

N. Thirumurugan’s two centuries on a day (112 in the morning and 107 in the evening) helped Lechatelier MHSS enter the final of the Nagalakshmi Ammal memorial Trophy district-level inter-school Twenty20 cricket tournament at Madurai on Saturday.

The scores (semifinals): Lechatelier MHSS 201 for four in 20 overs (N. Thirumurugan 107, Sathish 53) bt Mahatma MHSS 156 for seven in 20 overs (Pranoy 50 not out, Vignesh three for 23).

Quarterfinals: Lechatelier MHSS 228 for seven in 20 overs (N. Thirumurugan 112) bt Vikaasa MHSS 102 in 17.3 overs (Varun three for 13).



Arun hits 136

Arun who scored 136 helped Eleven Stars CC chalk out a 67-run victory over Supersonic CC in the Canara Bank-MDCA first division league at Madurai on Saturday.

The scores: Eleven Stars CC 276 in 47 overs (Arun 136, Ramesh Babu 52) bt Supersonic CC 209 in 39.1 overs (Rajesh 54, Baskar 40, Winsely four for 37).

Jeyaprakash shines

An unbeaten half-century by S.P. Jeyaprakash helped RVS Sports Club defeat Sam Babu XI, Kodaikanal, by eight wickets in the Canara Bank-Dindigul District Cricket Association first division league at Dindigul on Saturday.

The scores: Sam Babu XI 96 in 26.5 overs lost to RVS SC 98 for two in 16.1 overs (S.P. Jeyaprakash 50 not out).

Hat-trick by Suman

A hat-trick by Suman, four goals by Yogadev, one each by Vijaykumar and Joseph helped Vikram Engineering College thrash Usilai Football Club 9-1 in the Madurai District Football Association ‘A’ division league for Hi-Tech Arai Trophy at Madurai on Saturday. Christopher netted the only goal for Usilai Club.

In another match, a goal scored by Ravichandran helped Sethu FC defeat Acme SC 1-0.

Big win for St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s FC registered on emphatic 4-0 victory over Dudley FC in the Dindigul District Football Association ‘A’ division league for SPD Tools Trophy at Dindigul on Saturday. Prem Edwin, Tamil Selvan, Prince Prabakar and Anand scored.

RMK is champion

RMK Engineering College won the overall championship at the Anna University inter-collegiate best physique competition in Tiruchi on Saturday.
