Work on aircraft carrier progressing well: Navy Chief

The Indian Navy on Wednesday said work on aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (Admiral Gorshkov) currently undergoing repairs and re-fitment in Russia was progressing well while the first of the three Talwar class warships follow-up should be delivered by early next year.

The Navy's comment came after the visit of the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Nirmal Verma who returned here on Tuesday after a six-day tour of Russia during which he assessed the progress on work done on these ships besides holding discussions with top leadership of Russian armed forces and defence industry.

“Reviewing ongoing projects, the Admiral observed that they were progressing satisfactorily and had reached critical stages of maturity.

He also expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction and repairs,'' Navy spokesman Commander P.V.S. Satish said here.

INS Teg, is the first of the three follow-up order for Talwar class with INS Tarkash and INS Trikhand being the other two.
