Woman, five militants killed in J&K

Jammu April 15. A woman was killed and two were injured when Pakistani forces resorted to shelling in the forward villages of Rajouri district of Jammu region.

Police said that Pakistani forces resorted to shelling in the early hours of today in Kallas and other forwards villages of Nowshera sector. Shakuntla Devi was killed when a shell landed near her house and two were injured. Indian forces retaliated the fire.

Reports of shelling were also received from forward villages of Poonch district.

Elsewhere, five militants were killed in Poonch in three separate encounters. On Monday night, a

Congress leader, Choudhary Mohammad Afzal, was killed by militants in Topa village of Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.

Militants also attacked the house of the National Conference leader, Choudhary Talib Hussain, MP from the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency, in Fatehpur area of Rajouri for the

second time in the last fortnight. There were no reports of casualties or damage. The MP was in Delhi to attend the ongoing parliamentary session.
