We will not let Congress forget Mitrokhin: BJP

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party will not allow the Congress to forget about the allegations against it in the Mitrokhin Archives. The matter will be raised in Parliament as it was not a simple case of corruption, but an issue that casts a shadow on the very process of government policy, especially foreign policy issues.

Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said on Monday that the Congress' refusal to discuss the allegations in the book, Mitrokhin Archives, that it had received funds from the intelligence agency of the former Soviet Union, the KGB, was "proof that it had much to hide."

If the Congress wanted the truth to come out it should seek clarifications from Russia, Mr. Javadekar said.

Instead it has dismissed the allegations saying that they were baseless and referred to events 20 years ago. "There is no time limit for truth to be revealed," he said, adding that the issue would be raised during the winter session.
