Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Left parties on Monday indicated that they would demand a discussion on the Volcker Committee Report and expansion of the probe to include deals by companies and others named in the document.

The parties were keen that the probe ordered by the Centre included the companies named in the report, especially since the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance was in power at the time the contracts were concluded.Left leaders signalled their intent at a dinner meeting hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. The meeting concluded the engagements the Speaker has had with various political parties over the three days ahead of the winter session of Parliament starting on Wednesday.
