U.S. Embassy security supervisor shot dead

KATHMANDU NOV. 9. The security supervisor of the U.S. Embassy in Nepal was shot dead today at his house by three gunmen, State radio said.

Deepak Prasad Pokharel was sleeping at his home here when three assailants entered, shot him at close range and escaped.

Police have not caught any suspects, but the radio said the attack might have been carried out by Maoist rebels. Mr. Pokharel supervised security arrangements for U.S. Government institutions in Nepal. — AFP
