Farmers in the district will get irrigation water through Kaleshwaram Project by next rainy season, said Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao.

Addressing a public meeting at Regonda mandal after launching the repair work on SRSP DBM-38 canal here on Thursday, he said the farmers henceforth would get water for two crops a year.

The work on the Kaleshwaram Project was going on at full speed and even the Central Water Commission officials appreciated the initiative of the State Government, he said.

“It is the commitment of our Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to bring under cultivation one crore acres in Telangana. Following his vision, the project that takes eight years to complete is being executed in a record 20 months,” he said amid cheers.

The Minister said work was being executed in three shifts and two lakh cement bags were being utilised every day which speaks about the speed at which the work was going on at Kaleshwaram Project.

Mr. Harish Rao later inaugurated an agriculture godown and a high-level bridge at Mulug Ghanpur mandal. He listed out the initiatives launched by the TRS Government for farming community from offer of loan waiver to Rs. 8,000 per acre input financial assistance.

“The Congress leaders have no face now. They sit at Hyderabad and talk a lot. They should visit villages and meet people. The people of Telangana are not ready to believe in them anymore,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary, MLAs A. Ramesh and Ch. Dharma Reddy and others were present.

Mr. Srihari said the first reservoir of Devadula Project was set up in Bhupalpally constituency and the people of the constituency need not worry about their problems.
