BJP State president and MLA K. Laxman has said that it was not fair on the part of the TRS government to deny the Rs. 4,000 per acre farm investment under Rythu Bandhu scheme to tenant farmers.

Tenant farmers were the real tillers of the land and they toiled from dawn to dusk to improve the agriculture produce, he said, addressing a road side public meeting at Kistajiwadi in Tadwai mandal on Sunday as part of the BJP Jana Chaitanya Yatra in the State.

He criticised the TRS government for diluting the Tenancy Act and giving incentives to landowners instead of the genuine farmers who were cultivating the lands. In fact, more than 70 % farmers in the State were tenants who were being discriminated against by the government. The BJP, he said, would revive the Tenancy Act and take steps to include the name of tenant farmers in the pattadar passbooks if it was voted to power.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was ruling the State dictatorially throttling the voice of the Opposition and other sections of society, he added.

Mr. Laxman said that the KCR rule dashed the hopes of the youth and educated who hoped that with the formation of Telangana State they would get jobs. The Chief Minister was whiling away the time with false promises.

He [KCR] was diverting funds released under various schemes by the Centre and even changing titles of the schemes, he alleged. The BJP State president said that TRS government was claiming the schemes introduced by the BJP led NDA as its own and added that people were waiting to give a fitting lesson to it. The next government in the State would be of the BJP one, he said. He went on to say that TRS would have a future only if it mends its ways.

Earlier he participated in the Bonalu procession taken out by the women welcoming the Jana Chaitanya Yatra. BJP district president B. Laxma Reddy, party leaders Muralidhar Goud, Premender Rao, M. Ram Reddy, Bapu Reddy, K. Venkatramana Reddy and others participated. The yatra later proceeded to Nizamabad through Banswada, Varni and Armoor.
