Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that the State government will spend Rs. 45,000 crore over three years for the development of Hyderabad from the next year.
An additional Rs. 10,000 crore will be spent on other towns during the same period, he told a meeting held to review development programmes in municipal corporations and municipalities of the State.
Mr. Rao told the meeting that Rs. 15,000 crore would be spent per annum on Hyderabad for three consecutive years from next year to make it a truly global city. The spending of Rs. 55,000 crore on Hyderabad and other towns was aimed at development in mission mode under a programme ‘focussing on urban Telangana’.
He asked the officials to prepare an action plan for the purpose. Construction of roads, parks, tanks and sewerage should be taken up with the funds.
The municipal administration department should prepare a report on how it proposed to spend the funds. The works should be spent accordingly.
He asked the officials to ensure that green belt improvement was compulsorily taken up in layouts. Land for the purpose should be reserved in the layouts.
The water of the Godavari river should be diverted to Osmansagar, Himayatsagar and Hussainsagar.
