Students and chefs of Regency College of Hotel Management won 9 medals in the South Indian Chefs Association, a competition conducted by World of Hospitality to recognise the culinary and pastry skills of students and professionals from various culinary arts colleges in Bengaluru.
The Regency students competed in 3-tier wedding cake, artistic pastries’ show pieces, artistic bakery show pieces, fruit and vegetable carving and plated appetisers. Out of 150 professional category contestants and 300 student category contestants from south India, Regency students won 9 medals, said principal P. Ramesh Kumar Reddy.
Facing tough competition from the final year students, the first years of Regency presented extravaganza products winning the hearts of the judges. In the student category, Revanth Reddy won a bronze medal in fruit and vegetable carving, Gaurav, Nagender, Narendra ND Taufeeq won in artistic bread, modern chocolate sculpture and plated appetisers.
Judges Uma Shankar, Vikram Singha, Vignesh and Padmanabham – all noted chefs were overwhelmed by the set up ‘Divya Dawat (Elysian Desi Food)” and the plating theme, a press release said.
