Entrepreneurship tips for tech, B-school faculty

The SR Innovation Exchange (SRiX), a technology business incubator launched last year, joined hands with the University of Massachusetts Lowell (USA) to conduct a four-day ‘Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Faculty Development’ workshop here.

Faculty members from 17 institutions participated in the workshop, which was facilitated by Michael Philip Ciuchta, entrepreneurship professor at Umass Lowell University; Ashwin Mehta, entrepreneurship professor; and Nitin Kulkarni, director, KLE-Center for Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Hubli, Karnataka.

“This is the second initiative we have facilitated as part of our regional entrepreneurship acceleration programme, which intends to prepare engineering and management faculty of our region for the 21st century entrepreneurship challenges,” said Sreedevi Devireddy, CEO, SRiX.

The workshop will also aim at providing the participants with tools and frameworks to teach entrepreneurship and innovation in undergraduate programmes to enable rapid scaling of entrepreneurship education in India, she added.

“Our aim is to transform entrepreneurship curriculum to build core entrepreneurial skills including opportunity assessment, networking, team development, financial management, fund raising, technology integration, leadership, sales and marketing,” said Mr. Mehta, adding, “We hope to see a change in the landscape in the next few years.”
